There are many places to camp in Sanpete County. Feel free to explore and enjoy the great outdoors. There are many designated campgrounds all around the Sanpete area and backcountry camping is also allowed in the Manti-La Sal National Forest; just remember to follow the camping rules laid out by the Forest Service.
Manti-La Sal National Forest Camping Rules:
1. Follow the “Pack it In, Pack it Out” policy. Dumpsters are not available for public use.
2. Campers in developed sites must use the toilet facilities, trailer holding tanks, or porta potties.
3. Vehicles may be no more than 150 feet off the road for picnicking and camping unless otherwise posted.
4. Camping equipment may not be left unattended for longer than 72 hours.
5. Camping time limit is 14 days. You must move your camp at least 10 miles from your spot after 14 days.
6. Shooting is not allowed within 150 yards of campsites, roads, or lakes.
7. Campers must abide by current fire restrictions.
8. Weed-free hay or pellets are required for livestock.
