What do I need to go Geocaching?

First: You will need an account with geocaching.com. It is 100% free to sign up and you can start getting GPS coordinates to caches around you.

Second: You will need a handheld GPS or a GPS app on your phone or other electronic device with GPS capabilities.

Third: For many caches you will need something to trade. It is often a tradition to take something out of the cache an to leave something behind to replace it. Remember what you trade should have some value. Never leave trash or food in the cache and be very respectful to the game. Most caches also have a log to sign your name to show you found the cache.

Forth: You need to plug in the GPS coordinates of the cache you’ve selected to find and have fun looking for treasure.

After you’ve had the experience of finding some caches you might want to try hiding your own. Geocaching.com is where you can add your cache for others to find. Creating a geocache and hiding it can also be a fun dating activity.
